Unfinished

Can anything be sadder than work left unfinished? Yes, work never begun.

Hi Thinker!
I totally agree with this quote. It's very important. I have heard people say that they did not want to try and be a writer, dancer, painter -whatever their desire was- because they were too afraid of failure. They feel better not trying anything. But when you actually try, you realise that failure does not really exists - by trying, you become someone different, no matter whether you succeed or not.

As Saint-Exupéry says: "Once one is caught inside a storm, they are not afraid of it anymore" (Une fois pris dans la tempête, les hommes ne s'en effraient plus)

Cécile, i agree, there's a quote by Erica Jong: "If you don't risk anything, you risk even more." I like the quote by Saint-Exupéry very much!

Another great quote! I like Cecile's comment too. While preparing my 'weird and wonderful' post, I was thinking of all the people who havn't had the best opportunities in life and have missed out on discovering their talents. Also wondering how many people are afraid or embarrassed to share their work, many who have been scorned (perhaps by an insensitive remark)into hiding their art or, god forbid, giving up their art altogether.

Yes, Stanley Kunitz said that the supreme morality of art is to endure. And i would say to begin, and endure.
