Great recipe for success!

Hi BlackAndWhite, this quote continues the chat from the post "Unfinished".
To choose art as a profession is a great risk, and a lot of people never had enough courage to make that choice, and many who tried gave up. In a way, just being and enduring as an artist is already quite an achievement. But that is just a start..

it's the failing and struggle with light and shadow and tone and shade that either makes or breaks you... but sometimes it is just little glints of light that feed your passion and belief. i aim high and am very often disappointed, i really don't know what keeps me determined to carry on! r.

Yes, putting a piece of yourself in the material is always a struggle. But it's fair fight, sometimes the artist wins and sometimes the material...

Hi Thinker,
it is a nice quote and indeed it continues the chat from the "unfinished" post. Once you've chosen to try and do what you love to do in life, failure does not mean anything anymore. It's hard to explain but one can feel it :) It might have to do with the fact that one's life has a purpose, a meaning, that they fight for something.

Hi Cécile, i agree with you. There's a quote by Stanley Kubrick: "The very meaninglessness of life forces man to create his own meaning." I believe it really is like that, nobody can find the meaning of my life for me, i must do it for myself. And if i do, then failure really does not mean anything anymore.
