Thucydides lived in exciting times. He was a historian who had witnessed the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.
Although this quote is in a way related to the matters of war, i find its meaning so universal. It's one of my favorites.

I must say it makes my heart beat quicker too. It obviously strikes a chord. I've been writing flat out, transferring many of these quotes into my quote book.
