Silence

Soon silence will have passed into legend. Man has turned his back on silence. Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation.

I don't know where you live, Thinker... Living in a big city I so much agree with this quote. Silence is so peaceful and full of meaning. The city with its machines and cars screams and howls and makes you crazy like nothing else...

I agree with you ,we are almost used to live in sound pollution today.
Lots of people even find silence annoying in a way, like they are afraid to stay alone in silence with themselves without anything to amuse their mind. In a way, they want to be distracted.
Right now i live in a smaller city, but i totally understand how terribly noisy Paris must be.

I live for those quiet times. Not necessarily complete silence because I love to work with bird sounds and monkeys chattering and especially the sound of rushing water but the jarring sounds of traffic and machinery grates my nerves.
