Interesting. So many people talk about "Art" and so many claim to be "artists", whaterver that means. An "artist" is said to be inside evryone. But I'm not sure this is true. Very few of us really are artists, and those who are might not even be using the word.

Yes, I would agree with that. And not necessarily geographical isolation but perhaps a certain amount of social isolation. Comes down to solitude, however you get it.
Cécile, that really is a good question, can everyone be an artist, or is everyone able to understand art. A great topic for a discussion...
Robyn and Kate, i also think that isolation is important, sometimes when i close myself in my studio to work, i like to forget that there is a world existing outside the studio.
This quote was amusing to me as an interesting description of the creation process: An isolated individual creating without distraction.
