My clarity

Fog thick morning –
I see only
where I now walk. I carry
my clarity
with me.

A new world

A new world is not made simply by trying to forget the old. A new world is made with a new spirit, with new values. Our world may have begun that way, but today it is caricature. Our world is a world of things. What we dread most, in the face of the impending debacle, is that we shall be obliged to give up our gewgaws, our gadgets, all the little comforts that have made us so uncomfortable. We are not peaceful souls; we are smug, timid, queasy and quaky.

A 6th photo and a quote from an old movie..

I've been asked by ILoveBlackAndWhite to post a 6th photo from the 6th folder in my computer and the story that goes along with the picture. So here it is. It is an image from the movie À bout de souffle, written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard. And of course , here's a quote from that movie:

Patricia : " Quelle est votre plus grande ambition dans la vie ? "
Le romancier Parvulesco : " Devenir immortel…et puis mourir. "

Patricia : " What is your greatest ambition in life ? "
Parvulesco, the novelist : " To become immortal, and then die. "

A poem

by Dorothy Parker

My land is bare of chattering folk
The clouds are low along the ridges
And sweet’s the air with curly smoke
From all my burning bridges.
