I agree that art should not be based on mere attempts to replicate reality by copying the surface of things.I guess artist must get beyond imitation in his special way.

this makes me think of the definition of conceptualism. beautiful quote as always. also makes me think about a friend's words: 'you can change a lot but your essence will remain'. he was 14 when he told me those words. we were both 14. i think he was right.
